How to Make Huge Changes in Your Life
(Spoiler: it starts small.)

We live in a world of instant everything.
Our favorite shows stream on demand, packages show up the next day, and dinner can be at our door before we even realize we’re hungry. We’ve gotten used to immediate gratification—and when things take time, it can feel like we’re doing something wrong.

But when it comes to lasting change, slow and steady really does win the race.
Big transformations don’t happen overnight. They’re built on tiny, consistent steps that compound over time.

That’s not just motivational fluff—it’s science.

Back in 2003, Sir Dave Brailsford took over the British Cycling Team, one of the least successful teams in the sport’s history. Instead of scrapping everything and starting from scratch, he applied a business strategy called the aggregation of marginal gains: improve everything by just 1%.

One percent better sleep. One percent better nutrition. One percent more efficient training. One percent more comfortable bike seats (yes, that was actually part of it).

Each change felt small—almost insignificant—but together, they added up.

By 2008, the British Cycling Team had won more medals than in their entire history combined. Over the next decade, they dominated the Tour de France. All because they committed to slow, steady, deliberate progress.

Small wins compound. Every single one counts.

You don’t need a brand-new diet or a complete life overhaul to start feeling better. You don’t need to “start over” on Monday. You just need to start—today—with one small, doable thing.

Here’s a real-life example:
Lately, I’ve been training hard—lots of cycling, lots of sweat. But my nutrition? Not as dialed in as I’d like. Working from home means snacks everywhere, and a partner who’s just as busy with work and house projects, and kids sport schedules don't exactly make it easier.

So instead of jumping into a strict plan or tracking every macro, I made one small change: I started writing it down.

I downloaded MacrosFirst and logged what I ate. Not for calories. Not for perfection. Just for awareness. And guess what? The simple act of writing it down made me think more before each meal. That’s a 1% win right there.

If your nutrition’s already solid, pick something else small.
Do 10 squats today.
Take a walk after dinner.
Drink one more glass of water than usual.

It doesn’t sound like much—but those small steps build momentum. And momentum creates real, lasting change.

If you improve by just 1% each day, you’ll be more than 30 times better by this time next year.

That’s not magic—it’s math.

Because progress that lasts isn’t about going fast—it’s about keeping at it. One tiny win at a time.
